Diane Ellen has been responsible for patients in High-risk Antepartum, Labor & Delivery, Cesarean Section/Operating Room, Postpartum, and Newborn Nursery since 1989 when she received her B.S. in Nursing.  She has worked in New York, Hawaii, and Florida.

 

In 2003, she developed her own business, Personal Childbirth Trainer Inc., to educate, provide support, and help guide expectant parents from pregnancy to labor and delivery & beyond!

 

As a labor nurse, Diane recalled many laboring couples’ comments about their childbirth preparation classes:  “I didn’t learn anything, all they wanted to do was practice breathing, I was too tired after working all day and I don’t remember anything.”  And it showed.  Much of her time at work was re-teaching laboring couples about information they should have already learned at their class. 

 

“I didn’t want patients to say this about my class.  I wanted to teach them everything that they really needed to know, from an experienced nurse’s standpoint, all in one day.  I wanted them to laugh and giggle, while actually learning!  I wanted to teach them to ask questions, be flexible, keep an open mind, and have fun!  I wanted them to show up at the hospital, know what to expect, be aware of all of their possible options, and have minimal if any surprises.  I wanted them to have the best possible childbirth experience!”

 

So with this in mind, after over 800 hours behind her computer and lots of guidance & assistance, the PCT CHILDBIRTH WORKSHOP was formed!

 

As of 2007, Diane has been working hard to offer other nurses the opportunity to teach the PCT CHILDBIRTH WORKSHOP, offer hospitals & doctors & midwives an amazing alternative to the traditional childbirth class being offered, and encourage pregnant women nationwide to demand the best possible childbirth preparation course from their health care provider!
