Dear Hospitals, Birthing Centers,

& Maternity Units,

My name is Diane Ellen and I have been a Registered Nurse since 1989.  In 2003, I left hospital nursing and began my own business, Personal Childbirth Trainer, Inc.

One service my company provides is childbirth education.  I have spent over 800 hours putting together an amazing childbirth class that covers everything a pregnant woman should know.  Topics include pregnancy, what to expect at the hospital, birthing ball usage and other comfort measures, labor & delivery, cord stem cell collection, postpartum care, newborn care, feeding logs, and even car seat safety!

Typically, the maternity hospital will offer childbirth classes to their community.  Sometimes, several educators teach one hospital’s classes.  As people are different, so are their teaching styles.  Often these educators teach different topics from each other, based on their own strengths and weaknesses, even though it is the same class.  Different educators will place different importance upon different topics based on their value of what is important to know.  I have developed a comprehensive childbirth workshop that will solve these problems.  Any childbirth educator can use my PCT Childbirth Workshop CD on any day or night.  Everyone follows the same topic guidelines.  Although their individual styles may vary, the content of what they teach will be the same.  No more wondering which teacher is teaching what.  If you know what slide number they are on, you will know what they are teaching.  This provides continuity among your hospital’s childbirth classes.  One small investment will bring your institution many rewards.  No more wondering what to teach, which handouts to pass out, which posters to use, where to store all these items, how to present the information or how to stay on track!  The teachers will be happy to have the guidelines and the students will be grateful for the up-to-date manner of teaching.

For the student, class is “fun, easy to follow, and informative”.  For the educator, the comprehensive program is easy to use.  Just place the PCT Childbirth Workshop CD in your computer and press <play>!  The PowerPoint presentation consists of 94 great slides with 125 animations.  In addition to the CD, the PCT Childbirth Workshop Workbook is also available for purchase.  What a better way for your students to follow along in class.  Don’t let your students worry about losing papers, important handouts, information, or their folders.  Plus, the 96-page workbook acts as a forever reference for them after class is over as well as a souvenir from your hospital!  Don’t want to spend the extra money including the workbook with the cost of the class?  Make the workbook available for purchase on the day of class for those wishing to use the book, to follow along, as a reference guide.

In today’s times, even the hospitals are influenced by competition.  Help make your maternity unit stand out from the rest.  Don’t just offer “childbirth classes” or “Lamaze”.  Be unique.  Be the first one in your area to offer a PCT Childbirth Workshop!  Teach the PCT Childbirth Workshop in one-day or break the class into as many parts as you want.  Allows you to offer the class weekly (i.e.:  every Tuesday night for four weeks) or a weekend workshop (i.e.:  half-day Saturday and half-day Sunday).  My favorite is the one-day, from 8am-5pm, PCT Childbirth Workshop on a weekend day!  Customize the workshop to best suit your hospital and your expecting mothers’ needs!

Pregnant women talk to other pregnant women.  They are always comparing baby related items:  doctors, hospitals, classes, car seats, strollers, etc.  Wanting the best for themselves and their babies, they routinely swap information they’ve come across.  When they hear about the PCT Childbirth Workshop their friends, family, and co-workers took at your hospital and the PCT Childbirth Workshop Workbook they received, they will want to come to your hospital for childbirth class too!  Then, they will be so impressed with their childbirth class that they will probably want to deliver there too!  And so on.

As an added bonus, when your hospital purchases the PCT Childbirth Workshop CD, your childbirth educators are entitled to attend as many of my own personal workshops as desired to see, first hand, how to best utilize the program.  For those of you out of town, I can schedule telephone consultations to guide you through the program.

Don’t hesitate.  Take advantage of this early notification.  Be the first in your area to offer this program.  Please call me or email me for more information.  I would love to speak to you!

Sincerely,

 Dear Doctors and Midwives,

My name is Diane Ellen and I have been a Registered Nurse since 1989.  In 2003, I left hospital nursing and began my own business, Personal Childbirth Trainer, Inc.

One service my company provides is childbirth education.  I have spent over 800 hours putting together an amazing childbirth class that covers everything a pregnant woman should know and more!  My purpose in writing a separate letter to you is to discuss how PCT Childbirth Workshop could benefit you.

When I left the hospital and started my own business, several doctors were wondering if I would be interested in teaching childbirth class in their office.  I wondered why?  To the best of my knowledge, in the past, they had always sent their patients to the hospital for class…why me?  Why the change?  Was there something wrong with the local hospitals’ classes?

After sitting and speaking with them, I had a better understanding.  The classes were “stale, had no spark.”  Some hospitals were limited in the amount of money they could spend on supplies for childbirth class so they could no longer invest in props, workbooks, or handouts.  The class usually consisted of a teacher lecturing to the class and showing a couple of videos.  The teachers were not always consistent.  Different teachers would stress different aspects of the delivery process.  Some topics were left out all together.  Some teachers were very opinionated.  Some based their class on their own labor and delivery experience.  Although their patients attended each class, they left feeling like they really didn’t learn anything.  Some of these patients left the class feeling more anxious.  They would then go back to their healthcare provider with even more anxiety, questions, and confusion.

These physicians wanted more for their patients.  They realized that if the patient felt more educated and more at ease that their anxiety and fear would decrease.  The more educated patient meant less questions and phone calls to them.  The visit might not be so long as the patient really didn’t have any questions.  They wanted a more consistent class offered to their patients so that, no matter which teacher was teaching, the information would still be the same.  They wanted all topics covered.  They wanted the patient aware of all the possible risks, options, and outcomes.  They wanted a more informed patient.  They wanted a better-prepared patient.  They were looking for something different.  They were looking for something more than the local hospital was willing to offer.

The PCT Childbirth Workshop solves many of these issues.  The workshop is consistent.  There are 94 slides shown to the pregnant women and their support people.  No matter who teaches, the same material is covered.  All topics are covered.  Topics covered include “Warning Signs”, “True Labor vs. False Labor”, and “Signs of Approaching Labor”.  The important information covered in just these few topics takes away many questions that would have been asked to the healthcare provider.  The “Wish List” helps them share with you their most important desires of their labor and delivery while stressing to them the importance of being flexible and open minded.  It is a one-sided, easy to read wish list.  All possible options and interventions are discussed in a positive unbiased manner.  One purpose of the PCT Childbirth Workshop is to educated people about childbirth in a fun manner while teaching them a little bit about all their possible options.

The patient leaves feeling more informed, less anxious, and better prepared.  The patient has fewer questions for you at their next visit.  The nighttime phone calls may even decrease (no guarantees J)!  They patient has a PCT Childbirth Workshop Workbook that they get to take home and use as a reference guide before, during, and after the birth of their baby.  They have positive memories about their childbirth preparation class.  They appreciate this service that their doctor or midwife had provided in their office.  They will show the book to all their friends, compare childbirth classes with others, and brag about the great doctor or midwife that is taking care of them!  Their friends and family may want to switch to the doctor or midwife who cared so much about their friend to offer this amazing workshop…and so on.  What a small price to pay for such appreciation, gratitude, and sense of peace.

So all you have to do is purchase the PCT Childbirth Workshop CD.  Your patients can be taught in the familiar atmosphere of your office lobby.  Inquire if any experienced OB nurses or childbirth educators would like to earn extra money.  Nurses often pick up extra work shifts…they shouldn’t be hard to find.  You pick the instructor for your workshop.  You may do all the registering for the class and pay the instructor an hourly wage, or let this person do all the class preparation and keep all the money.  You may do it any way you like.  You own the CD.  You decide.  You may have the instructor point out certain areas that you or your practice would like to have stressed.  This is your class.  All topics covered your way.

As an added bonus, when you purchase the PCT Childbirth Workshop CD, your childbirth educator is entitled to attend as many of my own personal workshops as desired to see, first hand, how to best utilize the program.  For those of you out of town, I can schedule telephone consultations to guide the childbirth educator through the program.
